The Argosy is pleased and excited to have been nominated for a business excellence award in the Sustainability category!
Please visit the link below to vote for the Argosy and other deserving Prince Rupert businesses. You can vote once a day between February 1st and 14th.
What makes the Argosy a green/sustainable business?
- We repair and upcycle antique and vintage items, keeping them out of landfills and reducing the need for new items to be manufactured and shipped from overseas;
- We removed the old, inefficient natural gas furnace from the building and heat the store using a high efficiency wood pellet stove (wood pellets are made in BC from scrap wood and are considered carbon-neutral);
- All of our store packaging is recycled or reused:
– our paper shopping bags are 100% recycled, made with 95% post-consumer product;
– we have been reusing the same paper packaging for three years as we go back and forth between auctions and the store;
– we recycle and compost at the store; - We participated in the Live Smart BC program to reduce the Argosy’s carbon footprint through efficient lighting and heating solutions.
We consider it a great honour to be nominated in this category and wish all the nominees luck! Prince Rupert is lucky to have such a diverse, hard-working business community and we are proud to be part of it.
Many thanks,
Richard and Frances
